Bhopal Travel Guide

Bhopal is the capital of Madhya Pradesh, India. The city of Bhopal is Taj-ul-Masajidsituated on the 11th century city, Bhojapal, founded by Raja Bhoja. The capital city of Madhya Pradesh Bhopal is one of the most beautiful historical cities in India. The historical city of Bhopal is also known as the city of lakes. The city of Bhopal is a perfect combination of natural beauty, rich history and modernity. Apart from natural beauty the city of Bhopal is also known for its beautiful lakes old mosques and palaces. The city is known over the world, sadly, for the largest industrial tragedy or the Gas Tragedy, happened in the year of 1984.

Upper
Lake and Lower Lake are important tourist spots in the city of Bhopal. They attract the tourists towards the city. These beautiful lakes provide boating and sailing facilities which are surely mesmerizing experience. Near Lower Lake tourists can also visit Government Archeological Museum. Near Upper Lake one can also visit Van Vihar Local Safari Park and Aquarium. The Lakshmi Narayan Temple is also worth visiting site.

During your tours to Bhopal city you will also see Taj-ul-Masjid. Taj-ul-Masjid is one of the largest mosques of India. The construction of this mosque was started by Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan and is still incomplete. White domed and domes minarets, and beautiful terracotta walls of this mosque are very beautiful. Apart from Taj-ul-Masjid, you will see several mosques and monuments during your Bhopal city tour. You will see 19th century mosques - Jama Masjid and Moti Masjid. You will visit Sadar Manzil and Shaukat Mahal in the chowk area, which is considered as the heart of the old walled city.

Bharat Bhawan and Tribal Habitat or Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya are also the worth visiting attractions in Taj-ul-Masajidthe city of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, India.  Bharat Bhawan, commenced in the year of 1982, is a museum of tribal and cotemporary art forms. It is also the major centre for traditional music, dance and drama. When you will visit Bharat Bhawan you will surely marvel at this huge complex of modern architecture. Located on Shamala hill of Bhopal, Tribal Habitat is and open air museum where you will see tribal homes. Here you will observe the culture, lifestyle, art and religion of tribal.

How to Reach Bhopal

By Air:
The airport of Bhopal is located at the distance of 12 km from the old city. Bhopal is well connected by regular flights with Delhi, Indore, Gwalior and Mumbai.

By Rail: Major trains going form Mumbai to Delhi via Itarsi and Jhansi go through Bhopal.

By Road: Bhopal is easily accessible from the cities like Sanchi (46 km), Jabalpur (295 km), Indore (186 km) and Ujjain (188 km).
