Temple
The Mahabodhi Temple is the major attraction of Bodhgaya. The world famous Mahabodhi Temple is located on the east to the Mahabodhi Tree. The Mahabodhi Temple is known for its superb architectural effect. It has basement of 48 square feet. This architecturally beautiful temple is170 feet high. There are Chatras, symbolizing sovereignty of religion, on the top of the temple. According to popular belief, Emperor Ashoka - the great visited Bodhgaya after 250 years of Lord Buddha’s enlightenment. Emperor Ashoka is considered to be the founder of the original Mahabodhi Temple. While you will explore the Mahabodhi Temple you will also see the diamond throne which is called Vajrasana.
Mahabodhi Tree or Bodhi Tree
This is the typical Pipal Tree but has much religious importance. This is the tree where Prince Gautam Siddhartha sat under and performed meditation and finally got his enlightenment and became Lord Buddha.

By Air: Bodhgaya has no airport hence there is no direct connection by air to Bodhgaya. Neared airport is in Patna, the capital of Bihar, India. Patna is about 113 km from Bodhgaya by road.
By Rail: The neighboring city of Bodhgaya, Gaya is well connected from all the major cities of India. Gaya is only 14 km from Bodhgaya.
